Ordered this just this week and it was delivered a day early. Open up the box and the pump is clearly used, has a rag stuffed into one end and electrical tape wrapped around the connector on the other. I don’t know if it works, but clearly disappointed that it’s used and I really need it this weekend.

I took a gamble on this since it's not too expensive. The up-shot is that it will not lift more than about a foot. If you want to use it as a transfer pump between a source & destination at or around the same level I guess it would be fine. Any more than that and you have to pre-prime the pump (pre-fill the suction end with liquid) in order for it to be able to pull anything through the pump more than about a foot.

This self-priming little pump works very well, I suggest you pre-lube the internals before connecting the hoses by dropping some oil in the inlet and outlet to give you a good suction power. If you do this, it lasts longer because it eliminates dry operation that leads to quick wear of the impeller material. The hose is long enough for my application, it's a garden hose thread so longer hose can be attached.

I got this to do the oil changes on our diesel pusher motorhome with a rear radiator. The oil filler port is awkwardly located above the radiator. Our Cummins takes 4 gallons of oil. I used to cobble together a funnel, 1” PVC pipe extension, and a flexible hose and laid it on top of the open rear engine access cover to get the oil into the engine. As you can imagine, there’s a high chance of making a mess using this method and you have to stand on a stool, lift the gallon jugs of oil above your shoulders, and carefully pour it in and not overwhelm the allowable flow in the ghetto funnel extension. I also kept this messy contraption in our rig’s basement just in case we needed to add oil while on the road.I did this for the last 3 years and figured there had to be a better way.Queue this …

I bought this pump because I wanted to pump the water out of my basement sump since my primary sump pump quit working. My battery backup pump took over and was running like a champ. However, the battery backup pump is located much higher in the sump and I did not want to overload it with water removal due to recent heavy rain storms. Since I still had power, I was not worried about running down the battery since it was running on house current. I knew that the sump had a lot of water in it that I could see but I suspected that the tubing around the house's foundation must be full of water as well since the water level was above the tubes that empty into the sump. Anyhow, I wanted to see if I could remove the accumulated water and get the water level down to next to nothing. I ordered this

I have used this 2 times now. Once to empty the water out of a huge ice chest that was too heavy for one person to carry and couldn't just dump the water where it was located and 2nd time was to siphon the water out of clogged sink. Was able to push the included thin vaccum hose all the way down into the drain trap and suction the water out which made the job MUCH quicker and easier. Very handy unique tool to have around. Have used much more than I thought I would. Highly recommend. Good quality, seems like it will last a long time. Nice attachments too.

This item worked great. I too used it to draw home eating oil out of an underground tank. It got the job done with little effort. That tank is about 8 feet deep and it easily removed about 20 gals and also sucked out quite a bit of sludge that visually looked to have the same viscosity as used motor oil.Although I did, I can see why it is not recommended for flammable liquids(home heating oil is the same as diesel gas). A spark in the metal impeller chamber or from an electrical drill would probably turn out real bad.I can't wait too use it to change the oil in my car!!

This is a nice little drill operated pump. It is compact and is not fast but what can be expected of such a small unit. It is fine for emptying or filling a fountain water reservoir or 10 gal or less fish tank. If you are smart and SAFE AND use a BATTERY powered drill, I suppose it is also good small amounts of gasoline or diesel fuel, but I would NOT use it with a standard corded electric drill due to "sparking" potential.It handles dirt and small debris well, but of course chokes up on large leaf debris and such. If you use it for small jobs and use it intelligently it is good little helper around the house, even emptying a sink that is clogged of water so it can be snaked out or putting drain cleaner down after emptying sink with it.** Edit 8 months later: Unit is still going strong …
